Scholar Brush

The brush is known as Wisdom Brush or Scholar Brush in Mandarin. Some even call it “Zhuang Yuan” Brush, which means Champion in mandarin. The hair represents the symbolic connections between parents and children.

In ancient China, baby’s in a range of 0-4 years will have their lanugo hair cut to make calligraphy brush. The Chinese believe that keeping the lanugo hair brush of their children will make the child possess positive characteristics such as showing gratitude, confidence, self-improvement, and happiness. It passes on the love from the parents to their children to write their own life journey.

*Lanugo: Downy hair on the body of the fetus and newborn baby. It is the first hair to be produced by the fetal hair follicles.
